Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have questions — and we want you to have real answers before your first visit. If you don't see what you're looking for, call us or send a message and we'll help right away.

Do I need a referral to start physical therapy?

No. Wisconsin is a direct-access state, which means you can schedule physical therapy without a referral from your doctor. Simply call us or book online and we'll get you started.

How do I know if physical therapy is right for me?

If you are experiencing pain, limited movement, recovering from surgery or injury, or dealing with a condition that affects your daily life or performance — physical therapy can almost certainly help. If you're not sure, our free movement consultation is a great first step.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your insurance card and a valid photo ID. Any imaging reports (X-rays, MRIs) relevant to your condition. A list of current medications if you have one. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing — especially if your appointment involves your back, hips, or knees.

How long is a typical appointment?

Your initial evaluation is typically 60 to 90 minutes. Follow-up appointments range from 30 to 60 minutes depending on your plan of care.

How many visits will I need?

This is always honest and individualized. Most conditions are addressed in 6–12 visits, but your therapist will give you a realistic estimate at your evaluation. You'll always know the plan.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — we accept most major insurance plans. Your out-of-pocket costs depend on your specific plan, deductible, and whether we are in-network for you. Call us and we'll help verify your benefits before your first visit.

What if I don't have insurance or want to pay out of pocket?

We offer affordable flat-rate self-pay options. Many patients find this is less expensive than going through insurance — with no surprise bills. We accept HSA and FSA cards, cash, check, and credit cards.

Do you offer payment packages?

Yes. Spend $475 and receive $500 in credit (5% savings), or spend $900 and receive $1,000 in credit (10% savings). These can be shared across family members. Personal training packages are also available.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card?

Absolutely. Physical therapy and many of our services qualify as HSA and FSA-eligible expenses.

Pelvic Health Questions

What is pelvic health physical therapy?

Pelvic health PT is a specialized form of physical therapy focused on the muscles, nerves, and connective tissue of the pelvic floor. It treats conditions like urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, and postpartum recovery — using hands-on therapy, therapeutic exercise, and patient education.

Is an internal pelvic exam required?

No. An internal assessment can be a valuable diagnostic tool, but it is never required. Your therapist will always explain the purpose, obtain your informed consent, and offer alternatives. You are in control of your care at every step.

Can PT really help with incontinence?

Yes — and very effectively. Research consistently shows that pelvic floor physical therapy is one of the most effective treatments for urinary incontinence. Many patients see significant improvement within just a few sessions.

How long after having a baby should I wait to start pelvic health PT?

You can begin pelvic health PT as early as 6 weeks postpartum (or earlier in some cases for non-internal evaluation). There is no 'too soon' for checking in on your recovery. And there's also no 'too late' — we see patients years postpartum with great outcomes.
